Basic Transformer School
T 1-4pm, W 8:30-11:30   

Three-Phase Connections
W 1-4pm, Th 8:30-4pm, F  8:30-2pm

Partnering with Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association, and American Public Power Association, Minnesota Rural Electric Association annually offers the Joint Transformer School.

Pre-Conference-Single-Phase Basic Transformer Connection and Theory School - The pre-conference is designed to instruct the basics of single-phase transformer connections and theory. This course would be helpful for anyone who is involved with the electric line crew - from the apprentice to employees from other departments who may assist as a ground person. This pre-conference course would also be beneficial for the apprentice/journeyman lineworker who desires to strengthen their basic transformer knowledge prior to attending the Three-Phase Transformer Connections course the remainder of the week.

The Joint Three-Phase Transformer School has both hands-on and classroom style training. The hands on portion is taught using a miniature overhead electrical distribution system. Once the student has completed each connection, the system can be tested to see if it is correctly or incorrectly connected. This class offers training as close to real life as possible. Upon completion of this class, the student should have a good understanding of the following topics related to transformers:

• Basic Three-Phase Connections
• Open Delta Connection
• Three-Phase Troubleshooting
• Delta Connection
• Wye Connection
