OVERVIEW
This course gives electric cooperative directors a clear, practical introduction to nuclear energy—focused on building baseline knowledge, not advocating adoption. With a board oversight perspective, participants will learn how nuclear power works, key reactor types (including small modular reactors), and core considerations such as safety, cost, risk, regulation, and waste. The course emphasizes the board’s governance role—helping directors ask informed questions, evaluate long-term risks, and fulfill their fiduciary duties in an uncertain environment, while preparing them to communicate effectively with members and stakeholders.
