A Day in the Life 

 

  • - Design with Precision: Use design software, GPS, and data collection tools to create cost-effective electric and fiber line designs that follow ECE, Rural Utilities Service (RUS), and National Electric Safety Code (NESC) guidelines. 

 

  • - Meet with Members: Engage with members, contractors, and government agencies to plan new and upgraded services, ensuring a smooth and positive experience. 

 

  • - Coordinate and Stake: Route, stake, and flag project sites, perform surveys, and create staking sheets and construction summaries. 


  • - Secure Permits and Easements: Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to obtain necessary documentation, right-of-way access, and environmental reviews. 


  • - Support Field Operations: Collaborate with operations to resolve inquiries and clarify construction specifications. 


What You’ll Need 

  • - Education & Experience: Two-year technical degree or a minimum of two years of electrical theory and power design experience—or a combination of education and experience. 


  • - Credentials: Valid Driver’s License and Licensed Notary Public or the ability to obtain a Notary Public Commission within one year. 

 

  • - Skills: Strong communication skills, knowledge of electrical systems and fiber optics (including RUS and NESC codes), and proficiency with design software, GPS tools, and surveying are essential. You should be able to work independently, manage multiple projects, resolve member concerns, and maintain confidentiality. Integrity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety are key to success in this role.

  • - Schedule: Onsite, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Braham, MN Operations South building. 

 

  • - Hybrid Option: This position does not offer hybrid work.
