Electrical Distribution System Engineer

Elk River Municipal Utilities (ERMU) is seeking a qualified and motivated Electrical Distribution System Engineer to join our team. This position supports the planning, design, and reliability of ERMU’s electric distribution system while working in both office and field environments. You’ll collaborate across departments and help maintain the integrity and performance of our substations, SCADA/OMS systems, AMI data, and GIS mapping.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop electric system planning studies (load growth, power quality, protection coordination).
• Support system operations through data analysis, outage tracking, and technical documentation.
• Assist with the design of system improvements, customer extensions, and project estimates.
• Coordinate with customers, developers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Operate and support SCADA, OMS, and AMI systems and contribute to outage restoration and maintenance.

 Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Two (2) years of related engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within two years of hire.
• Valid Minnesota Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of electric distribution systems and GIS.

 Preferred Qualifications:

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with SEL, OSI SCADA, Itron MV90, ESRI, or AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with distributed energy resources or NERC compliance.

 Pay & Benefits:

Pay Range: $50.56 – $65.84/hour
