Master Electrician

Red River Valley Cooperative Power Association (RRVCPA) is seeking a full-time Master Electrician. RRVCPA is a member-owned electric cooperative headquartered in Halstad, MN. The cooperative provides electricity to 4,850 member-accounts in Clay, Norman and Polk counties in Minnesota. Halstad is conveniently located 35 minutes from Fargo-Moorhead and 45 minutes from Grand Forks. The location allows the successful applicant to enjoy the best of both rural and suburban living. The Master Electrician installs, inspects and maintains the load management (off-peak) system of the cooperative. Other primary duties include performing energy assessments for high use concerns, wiring CT meter systems, helping line operations with wiring tasks as needed and learning the AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) system. 

Primary Responsibilities

•    Installs, inspects and maintains the load management system

•    Performs energy assessments for member energy concerns as needed

•    Wires CT metering systems and works with line crews as needed

•    Installation of meters

•    Investigates power quality issues at member homes, shops, etc.

•    Performs all work safely in accordance with the state wiring code

•    Learn the metering system to eventually program meters and provide upkeep on the RF AMI technology assisting the current Meter Technician

•    Occasionally delivers and provides basic maintenance on electric water heaters.

Skills and Experience

•    Currently possess and maintains a valid Master Electrician License

•    Additional training on wiring controls and panels a plus

•    Must care about safety with respect to electrical hazards

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•    Pleasant demeanor and ability to work with inside and outside professionals

•    Must be organized and accurate.

Working Conditions

This job operates in a variety of settings both indoor and outdoor, sometimes in inclement weather and on uneven terrain. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test. Must have a current unrestricted driver’s license. May be required to submit to random drug and alcohol testing per DOT requirements or company policy. Occasional travel for training is expected for this position. This description is intended to provide basic guidelines for meeting job requirements.
