SUMMARY:2027 BLC Summit
DESCRIPTION:NRECA BLC SUMMIT \nJanuary 12-13\, 2027\nMREA Office\nMaple Grove\, MN WHO SHOULD ATTEND \nCooperative directors\n\nOVERVIEW\nJanuary 12\, 2027\nBLC 927.1 Cybersecurity: The Board's Oversight Role\nAs a result of a rapidly changing cyber-threat landscape and the growth of digitization\, electric cooperatives recognize the need to effectively manage cyber risks. Boards face a balancing act with cybersecurity and continued pursuit of digital innovation\, transformation\, and meeting consumer-member needs. Together with the CEO and management\, the electric cooperative board must carefully assess how much cyber risk it is willing to accept in order to pursue its overall strategy. This course is designed to help distribution cooperative directors find that balance and fulfill their cybersecurity oversight responsibilities. January 13\, 2027\nBLC 925.1 Co-op Bylaws: Guiding Principles & Curretn Issues\nThe continuing evolution of the structure of the electric industry in the U.S. has brought about increased scrutiny by consumers and regulators. As a result\, many electric cooperatives are being challenged to make sure their bylaws adequately address new situations including changing membership\, "large load" exceptions to some state territorial laws\, diversified services\, distributed generation\, and changes in some state or federal laws and regulations. This course will assist directors\, CEOs\, and agents of electric cooperatives in undertaking a comprehensive review of the co-op's bylaws and highlight the implications that these changes\, issues\, and challenges bring to bear in future bylaw revisions INSTRUCTOR \n927.1 - Pat Mangan\n925.1 - Adam Schwartz **Must be an NRECA member to register and attend per NRECA's Policy\n\nCost\nPlease see registration page for pricing\n\nHOTEL\nHoliday Inn Arbor Lakes\n11801 Fountains Way\nMaple Grove\, MN 55369Booking Link Coming Soon\n\nEvent Policies\nMREA Event Cancellation Policy (Link to Full Policy) updated 12.19.2025MREA Event Code of Conduct (Link to Full Policy)\nMREA is committed to providing a safe\, productive and welcoming environment for all participants and staff in MREA meetings\, conferences\, training programs\, and events both online and in-person.
